Megan Menzel Head Coach | University of Iowa Athletics
Xinyi “Iris” Gu from Valencia, Spain, and Eva Kristinsdottir from Reykjavik, Iceland, have signed scholarship agreements to join the University of Iowa women’s golf team for the 2026 season. The announcement was made by head coach Megan Menzel.
Gu currently holds a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) of 1,124. Her achievements include five tournament wins and 28 top-10 finishes. She won the 2025 St. Andrews Junior Ladies Open and the 2024 Orlando International Amateur.
Kristinsdottir has a WAGR ranking of 835. She has recorded four tournament victories and 17 top-10 finishes. She placed in the top 20 at the 2025 Annika Invitational Europe and is a two-time participant in the World Junior Girls Championship.
Coach Menzel stated: “We are very excited about our recruiting class for the 2026 season. Both Eva and Iris have played on the international stage and have posted some outstanding finishes. They are both great competitors, and their games continue to trend in a strong direction. We are gaining two great student-athletes, and our whole team is looking forward to them getting to campus next fall.”
