Former University of Iowa defensive back Jordan Lomax will act as honorary captain this Saturday when the 20th-ranked Hawkeyes face No. 9 Oregon at Duke Slater Field in Kinnick Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 2:40 p.m. CT kickoff and will be broadcast on CBS.

Lomax played four seasons with the Hawkeyes, serving as a two-year starter and finishing his career with 200 tackles. His time with the team included helping Iowa reach four bowl games, such as the 2015 Rose Bowl.

During his senior season in 2015, Lomax was named a permanent team captain and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. That year, Iowa completed an undefeated regular season, won the Big Ten West Division, and made its first return to the Rose Bowl in a quarter-century. Lomax contributed 96 tackles—third most on the team—along with six pass break-ups, one forced fumble, and one interception.

As a junior in 2014, he received honorable mention all-conference recognition after starting in 12 of 13 games. He recorded 92 tackles, led the team with six pass break-ups, intercepted one pass, and forced one fumble.

Off the field, Lomax was recognized for academic achievements including second-team Academic All-America honors during his senior year and academic all-district recognition as a junior. He was also named Academic All-Big Ten three times.

On Saturday, Lomax will join current Iowa captains at midfield for the pregame coin toss. In addition to his honorary role, he and members of Iowa’s successful 2015 squad will be honored during the first timeout of the second quarter.
