Iowa GOP chairman says U.S. Rep. Finkenauer remains out of touch with constituents

Vote13

U.S. Rep Abby Finkenauer (D-First District), who is running for a second term, has failed to focus on issues that matter to constituents in the pro-Trump district, the Iowa GOP said in a recent website post.

“While Rep. Finkenauer might’ve had Iowans on the hook in 2018, she continues ignoring issues that matter in favor of a bogus impeachment inquiry,” Jeff Kaufmann, chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, said in the post. “This time, Iowans won’t take the bait. Republicans have cast a wide net, and we’re excited to welcome this district back into GOP hands in 2020.”

State Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Marion), who seeks to challenge Finkenauer in the general election, has been endorsed by state and national Republican leaders, including Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“[Finkenauer] has proven time and again she is incapable of focusing on anything other than impeachment, completely ignoring important issues that actually produce results for her constituents, like passing the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement) and fixing the border crisis,” the GOP post said.
