McKenna Woliczko, ranked as the No. 6 national recruit, has signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Iowa women’s basketball program. The announcement was made by head coach Jan Jensen on Wednesday.

Woliczko, who is from San Bruno, California, is considered the second-highest rated power forward in the 2026 class. She shared her reasons for choosing Iowa: “Culture, community and relationships are why I chose the University of Iowa. The Hawkeye fan base has welcomed me with open arms, and I am thankful for the immediate acceptance. The countless connections with staff, players and Iowa City have been exactly what I was looking for.”

During her high school career at Archbishop Mitty, Woliczko helped lead her team to a unanimous No. 1 national ranking. As a sophomore, she averaged 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Her junior season ended after ten games due to injury; at that point she was averaging 22.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the field. She is expected to recover fully and return to play this year.

This signing marks Woliczko as the highest rated recruit Jensen has brought in during her first two seasons as head coach, and she becomes the second highest rated recruit in program history after Caitlin Clark in 2020.

Woliczko also has experience playing internationally with Team USA Basketball. She won gold medals at both the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Leon, Mexico—where she averaged 12.4 points on 51 percent shooting, along with 9.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists over seven games—and at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida, Mexico. In that tournament, she started all six games for Team USA and averaged nearly twelve points and ten rebounds per contest while leading all players in field goal percentage.

She was recognized for her performance by being named to the All-Star Five at both tournaments.
