University of Iowa freshman Ella Magallan has been named the Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, according to an announcement made by the conference on Wednesday.

Magallan, who hails from Burleson, Texas, achieved a personal best at the Pre-National Invite on October 17 in Columbia, Missouri. She completed the 6,000-meter race in 21:59.2, improving her previous best by nearly two minutes and finishing fourth among Iowa runners. This recognition marks Magallan’s third Freshman of the Week honor. She previously received the award on September 10 after finishing eighth at the Hawkeye Invite and again on October 8 following her performance at the Joe Piane Invite.
