George Barnett Offensive Line | University Of Iowa Athletics
The University of Iowa’s offensive line has been named to the midseason honor roll for the Joe Moore Award, which recognizes college football offensive line units for their toughness, effort, teamwork, consistency, technique, and finishing. The award is unique in that it honors an entire unit rather than individual players.
The Joe Moore Award is named after Joe Moore, who is considered one of the top offensive line coaches in college football history.
Iowa’s offensive line is led by coach George Barnett and features center Logan Jones, guards Beau Stephens and Kade Pieper, and tackles Gennings Dunker and Trevor Lauck. All five have started every game this season. Jones, Stephens, and Dunker together have accumulated 102 career starts. Lauck and Pieper are both first-year starters.
This season, the Hawkeyes’ offensive line has contributed to the team gaining over 200 yards in three out of six games while allowing only nine sacks. Iowa has also outrushed its opponents in five games. Notable performances include 210 rushing yards during a 37-0 win at Wisconsin on October 11 and 310 rushing yards in the season opener against UAlbany.
Iowa is among 24 units recognized by the Joe Moore Award at this point in the season. The semifinalists will be announced on November 5.
Looking ahead, Iowa will host Penn State on Saturday during the ANF Black & Gold Spirit Game at Kinnick Stadium. The sold-out event begins at 6:08 p.m. CT and will be available via Peacock streaming service as well as on the Hawkeye Radio Network.
