Iowa women’s golf ties for tenth at Oklahoma Intercollegiate

The University of Iowa women’s golf team concluded its participation in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Tuesday. The team posted a final-round score of 307, resulting in a tie for 10th place with a two-round total of 619 (312-307).

The tournament, which was initially planned as a 54-hole event, was shortened to 36 holes due to weather conditions. Teams began the first round on Monday and completed it Tuesday morning before finishing the event in the afternoon.

Junior Maura Peters led Iowa’s performance, tying for 41st place with a total score of 153 (72-81). According to the team, “She recorded four birdies and nine pars in the first round, followed by 11 pars in the second.”

Senior Riley Lewis tied for 43rd with a score of 154 (76-78). The release stated, “She carded nine pars and two birdies in round one, then added four birdies and seven pars in the second.”

Senior Shannyn Vogler tied for 51st and made four birdies during her second round. Sunny Wang and Ximena Benites both tied for 62nd place.

Florida secured the team title at the tournament. Megan Propeck was the only player to finish under par and earned medalist honors at one under.

The Hawkeyes are scheduled to compete next at The Ally Invitational in West Point, Mississippi, from October 20 to 22.
