University of Iowa senior offensive tackle Gennings Dunker has been named to the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, according to an announcement from the Wuerffel Foundation.

Dunker, who stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 315 pounds, started 11 games as a junior for the Hawkeyes. He played a key role on the right side of Iowa’s offensive line, which was recognized as a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award in 2024. Dunker is originally from Lena, Illinois, and was named second-team all-conference last season. He also earned Academic All-District honors and is currently a candidate for the 2025 Outland Trophy. Last year, he helped lead Iowa’s offense to rush for over 200 yards in seven games.

The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is considered college football’s leading award for community service. The trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, the former University of Florida quarterback who won the Heisman Trophy in 1996 and has since dedicated his life to service work.

Dunker has contributed time volunteering at several local organizations including the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Safe Haven Animal Shelter, Legacy Pointe Senior Living Center and Iowa City Regina High School. As a human physiology major, he has been honored three times as an Academic All-Big Ten selection, twice as an Academic All-District pick and three times with a Presidential Committee on Athletics medallion.

Finalists and the recipient of the 2025 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy will be chosen by a national voting committee along with input from fans. The winner will be announced on December 12th. The presentation gala is scheduled for January 31, 2026 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

The award recipient will also join Danny Wuerffel in New York City to attend Heisman Trophy ceremonies including press events and televised announcements.

Iowa will begin its football season on August 30 when it hosts UAlbany at Kinnick Stadium with kickoff set for 5 p.m. Central Time.
