Iowa City Police seeking public's assistance in July 2 shooting investigation

At 2:26 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023, Iowa City Police and Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the area of Mile Marker 93 on southbound Highway 218 for a report of a man on the side of the road suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Through their investigation, Iowa City Police have identified a vehicle, a black Nissan Altima, believed to be associated with the incident. Police are asking the public for any information on the vehicle or persons associated with it. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
