Make a splash at our annual day-long fundraiser, Sunrise to Sunset! Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 1, 2023, to attend Sunrise to Sunset, at City Park Pool. The fun begins at sunrise with open swim and short-course lap lanes available all day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. All pool admissions that day will be based on a ‘pay what you want’ format and the proceeds raised will directly benefit the Iowa City Parks & Recreation's RecAssist Scholarship Program.

Along with swimming, there will be yard games, arts and crafts, water safety lessons, giveaways, music, and paddle board demos. 

One of the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department's primary objectives is to teach every child in Iowa City how to swim, regardless of age, socioeconomic standing, or ability. RecAssist scholarship funds are also used to help provide those with financial need the opportunity to purchase swim passes and participate in other recreational programs and classes at a reduced rate. Applications for the program are available online. Community members will also have the chance to discuss the RecAssist program and apply in person at the Sunrise to Sunset event.
