Two years have passed since Frederick Rumble was killed. After a thorough investigation, the suspect remains at large and the Iowa City Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

At 1:20 a.m. May 16, 2021, Iowa City Police responded to the area of Sandusky and Taylor drives for multiple reports of shots fired. Responding officers located a vehicle in the 1300 Block of Bancroft Drive that had crashed into a tree.

Rumble, the driver of the vehicle, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Rumble was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined Rumble's death to be a homicide.

Since Rumble's death, Iowa City Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses and served more than 50 search warrants. Despite these efforts, no criminal charges have been filed in this case.

Investigators are continuing to seek information from anyone with knowledge of this incident and ask that they contact the Iowa City Police Department or Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers tips can be submitted via the P3 Tips app, online at iccrimestoppers.org, or by phone at 319-358-TIPS (8477). All tips and calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about Rumble's death that leads to an arrest. Individuals providing information are not required to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
