Helping our patients and visitors find their way is one of the easiest means of ensuring their UI Health Care experience is a great one.

Here are a few tips to remember the next time a patient or visitor asks for guidance.

  • Maintain safety guidelines: It’s our responsibility to be as helpful as possible when assisting patients and visitors, but it’s also our responsibility to keep them safe. In order to do so, it’s important to comply with the safety guidelines within the hospital.
  • If possible, escort patients or visitors: While it may be easier to simply explain to a patient or visitor where they need to go, our directions may leave them confused or frustrated. Escorting patients and visitors is the foolproof way to ensure they get where they need to be.
  • Information Desks are your friend: If you don’t know where a patient or visitor needs to go, use the Information Desks. You can find them in the Main Entrance (Elevators D and E, Level 1), Pomerantz Family Pavilion entrance lobby, and UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
    • You can also dial 101 from any house phone to ask for directions (24 hours daily).
  • Offer transport assistance if needed: If the patient or visitor requires transport assistance to reach their desired location, dial 102 for wheelchair escort (Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
    • On Level 2, dial 102 for a ride on the PATmobile (Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
