On Nov. 9, 2022, Councilor Janice Weiner submitted her resignation to the Iowa City City Council following her successful election to the State of Iowa Senate. Councilor Weiner’s resignation is effective January 1, 2023.
The City of Iowa City City Council hereby gives notice that the position of Council Member of the City of Iowa City, Iowa will become vacant on Jan. 1, 2023, and that the Council intends to fill the vacancy by appointment at a special formal meeting of the Council, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, at City Hall, 410 East Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa. This meeting will be a public meeting.
Any qualified person interested in being appointed Council Member is encouraged to submit their application online or via paper application found in the City Clerk’s Office at the following address:
