The North Liberty Police Department, in partnership with Johnson County Emergency Management, is now participating in Project Lifesaver. The project provides radio transmitters to community members with dementia and other cognitive deficiencies who might wander from home.
The program allows the law enforcement to help find these people who have wandered and return home with equipment provided by Johnson County Emergency Management.
The program is currently offered at no cost to the user. Those who wish to enroll with the program should contact the Johnson County Emergency Management at (319) 356-6700.
Project Lifesaver is a 501 (C)(3) community based, public safety, non-profit organization that provides law enforcement, fire/rescue and caregivers with a program designed to protect, and when necessary, quickly locate individuals with cognitive disorders who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering.
