Please welcome Karen Brust, MD, to UI Hospitals & Clinics as the new hospital epidemiologist. In this role, Brust will lead the Program of Hospital Epidemiology in ongoing efforts to decrease the risk for health care associated infections, other adverse events, and our COVID-19 response.
Brust comes to Iowa from Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) in Texas where she was an infectious disease clinician and served as BSWH Temple’s director of infection prevention and control. In addition to her role as hospital epidemiologist, Brust will see patients on the Infectious Diseases consult service as a clinical associate professor of internal medicine.
