City of Coralville recently issued the following announcement.
Coralville’s annual Winterfest is back! The free family-friendly event will take place at the Iowa River Landing on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
Winterfest — a celebration of all things winter — is an opportunity for families to get out of the house and enjoy time together. Activities will take place throughout the Iowa River Landing, including at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center, the Johnson County Historical Society Museum, Vesta, and Backpocket Brewery.
Experience the wonders of an Iowa winter with outdoor activities like horse-drawn carriage rides. Indoor activities include family caricature drawings, face painting, balloon animals, magician TJ Regul, and live music by local artist Karl Hudson.
The Coralville Library will bring a photo booth, the Army Corps of Engineers will offer water safety tips, Coralville Parks and Recreation will host an indoor snowball fight, and Last Hope Animal Rescue will host an adoption booth.
Admission will be free to the Johnson County Historical Society museum next to Xtream Arena, and the Iowa Heartlanders will host a ticket giveaway, with mascot Dash available for photos. Iowa River Landing businesses will offer deals for Winterfest participants, including free kids’ root beers at Backpocket Brewing, and wassail tasting at Vesta.
The event has both inside and outside opportunities to participate. The main activity space inside the Hyatt Regency Exhibit Hall has a high air volume capacity and plenty of room to spread out. Social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged.
Winterfest 2022 is sponsored by the City of Coralville, GreenState Credit Union, Hills Bank, and Think Iowa City. To learn more, visit iowariverlanding.com/event/winterfest-2022.
