CITY OF CORALVILLE: Celebrate Summer with Coralville’s 5th Street Social

Coralville

City of Coralville issued the following announcement on July 12.

Celebrate friends, family, and neighbors with a block party festival on 5th Street on Saturday, August 14!

Coralville’s 5th Street Social celebrates the street dances of the 1950’s by featuring music, food, local brews, children’s activities, and a classic car show and shine. The entertainment and activities are free and open to the community, with food and drink available to purchase.

Events

Enjoy music and activities on 5th Street between 6th and 12th Avenues:

  • There is fun for everyone with giant family games, bags, ladder golf, and chalk art.
  • Buy a bite to eat from local food trucks starting at 4:00 pm, featuring Falbo’s Pizza, Fork & Chef, Marco's Grilled Cheese, and Pineapple Whip Iowa.
  • Tip Top Cakes bakery and Pat and Fran's Irish Pub, both located on 5th Street, will be open.
  • Get rockin' on 5th Street with live music all night long. Dogs on Skis take the stage at 4:00 pm, and The Final Mix Band headlines the night starting at 7:00 pm. Wander to the west end of the festival grounds and watch the Battle of the Bands at West Music from 6:00-10:00 pm.
  • The beverage garden, open from 4:00-10:00 pm, features craft beer for $5 for a 16-18 ounce pour from three Johnson County craft breweries: Backpocket Brewing, Big Grove Brewery, and ReUnion Brewery.
  • Stop by the Classy Chassy Cruisers Show n' Shine from 4:00-8:00 pm and see classic cars parked on 5th Street from 9th Avenue to 12th Avenue.
  • Visit 5th Street businesses in the Social zone, with prize drawings and specials throughout the evening.
Street Closures & Coralville Transit

5th Street between 6th and 12th Avenues will be temporarily closed. Coralville Transit will not stop at #4360 (5th Street and 8th Avenue) after 11:40 am; the bus will pick up passengers along 6th Street at intersections and at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 5th Street.
