University of Iowa defensive tackle Yahya Black has been chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Black was the 164th overall pick, marking a continued trend for the Hawkeyes, who have seen a defensive lineman selected in each of the last three drafts.

Black joins former teammates Kaleb Johnson and Logan Lee in Pittsburgh. He is now the 18th defensive lineman to be drafted under head coach Kirk Ferentz's tenure at Iowa. During his college career, Black earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as both a junior and senior. He started his final 27 games with Iowa, recording 34 tackles in his senior year, including seven tackles for loss, one sack, two pass break-ups, two hurries, and a blocked field goal.

The Pittsburgh Steelers shared their excitement on social media: "With the 164th pick in the 2025 #NFLDraft, we select DE Yahya Black."

Pittsburgh finished last season with ten wins and placed second in the AFC North. This draft marks their second consecutive year selecting an Iowa defensive lineman after picking Logan Lee in 2023.

Iowa maintains its streak of having at least one player drafted every year since 1978. Under Kirk Ferentz's guidance, Black becomes the 91st player from Iowa to enter the NFL through the draft.
