As a result of the ongoing investigation into the May 6 fight in the 300 Block of South Gilbert Street, Iowa City Police have made an additional arrest.

• Antonio D. Montelongo, 20, of West Liberty, faces one count of Participate in a Riot.

Police previously arrested Victor A. Torres Molina, 28, of Iowa City; and Lake M. Newton, 21, of West Liberty, in connection with this case. Copies of their charges can be found here. Please note there is a typo in the criminal complaints and police do not believe Newton was stabbed.

A juvenile also faces one count of Participate in a Riot. No other information is available at this time.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

At approximately 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, Iowa City Police responded to a large fight in the 300 Block of S. Gilbert St. Upon police arrival, multiple subjects fled the scene.

Police were able to locate three adult men who had suffered stab wounds. All three were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of their injuries and are expected to recover.

Initial investigation has determined that the fight was among parties known to each other and that there is no direct threat to the general public. This incident remains under active investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
