As a result of the ongoing investigation into the May 6 fight in the 300 Block of South Gilbert Street, Iowa City Police have made multiple arrests.

  • Victor A. Torres Molina, 28, of Iowa City, faces charges of Participate in a Riot and Assault While Participating in a Felony.
  • Lake M. Newton, 21, of West Liberty, faces charges of Willful Injury - Causing Serious Injury and Participate in a Riot.
Copies of the charges can be found here. Please note there is a typo in the criminal complaints and police do not believe Newton was stabbed.

A juvenile also faces one count of Participate in a Riot. Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues. No other information is available at this time.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
