The City of Coralville continues to celebrate the sesquicentennial of the city with various events throughout the year. On Sunday, March 26, starting at noon the Coralville Public Library, will host “Life and Times,” a free event which serves as a reflection of Coralville’s history along with celebrating its future. It will feature numerous displays and interactive elements on the remarkable development of the last 150 years and a peek into the future of where Coralville is heading.

Longtime Coralville residents Rex Brandstatter and Keith Jones are presenting at 3:00 pm, though displays and activities are open from noon to 5:00 pm. The displays include historical maps, census data highlighting Coralville’s diversity, a slide show of historical photos, and information from the Johnson County Historical Society and Iowa League of Women Voters.

“You don’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you’ve been,” said Brandstatter, one of the event organizers. “Coralville has a fascinating history of reinventing itself.”

A look into the future is provided by displays featuring initiatives by the City Engineering Department and the Parks and Recreation Department.

A special interactive display will allow visitors to dress up like a vintage ball player in a photobooth with a historical image of a baseball field in Coralville.

No materials checkouts or public computer use will be available at the library during this event.
