Marvel at Winter’s Beauty at Fire & Ice on Jan. 29

Illuminated ice sculptures and landscaping, fire performances, ice skating, fireworks and more, Fire & Ice presented by GreenState Credit Union will have it all — and perhaps charm you into loving winter.

Running from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29 in North Liberty’s Penn Meadows Park (355 E Penn St), Fire & Ice is free and packed with winter-themed fun. Bundle up to:

MARVAL at performances and displays

  • Fire breathing, juggling and spinning performances every 20 minutes
  • Nine ice sculptures (illuminated beginning at 5 p.m.)
  • Decorative lights throughout the park installed by Window Genie of Iowa City
  • Performance from The Pandelirium Steel Drum Band at 5 p.m.
  • 15-minute firework display at 8 p.m.
ENGAGE in activities

  • Horse-drawn carriage rides (ending at 7 p.m.)
  • Photos inside a giant inflatable snow globe
  • Silent Disco from MidWestOne Bank
  • Marshmallows around the giant bonfire with Hills Bank
  • Take a spin on Scheels Ice Rink.
  • Bring your own skates or check a pair out for free at the event.
  • Dash, the mascot of the Iowa Heartlanders will be at the rink from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Enter to win a signed puck from the Iowa Heartlanders.
INTERACT with local businesses

  • Complete a STEM activity with UI Health Care
  • Play a game with The Family Dental Center
  • Take a shot with slapshot hockey to earn glow sticks from South Slope
  • Pick up a new ice scraper from Centro, Incorporated
  • Play Plinko with McGrath Toyota of Iowa City
  • Snag a new drawstring bag from GreenState Credit Union
FILL UP on free snacks and local food trucks

  • Hot chocolate from the Eastern Iowa Airport
  • Popcorn from Urban Acres Real Estate
  • On-site food trucks Marco’s Grilled Cheese and Paco’s Tacos (for purchase)
Parking is available in Penn Meadows Park’s north and south lots, at Penn Elementary and along nearby residential streets.
