Danielle (Nutting) Rings '15 MBA
Owner | MODE Fashion Boutique
Danielle grew up in northeast Iowa and has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), from the University of Iowa and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Mount Mercy University.
Danielle met her husband Randy at the University of Iowa and they have been married for 36 years. They have two children, a daughter, Abigail who is an attorney in Denver; and a son, William who is a first-year attorney. Her husband is also an attorney and the joke at their house is that her next endeavor will be to go to law school—unlikely!
Spending most of her career in the pension services industry, Danielle began her career at The Principal Financial Group in the home office in Des Moines. Following her husband’s career, the family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1996. Putting her background to work, Danielle began working as a Pension Specialist at SCI Tower Pension Specialists, Inc. When SCI was sold to Wells Fargo, their piece of the company went to RSM McGladrey Retirement Resources and Danielle with it.
When they eliminated that part of the company, Danielle was enjoying some time at home and a friend suggested she apply for a position raising money at Mount Mercy (since she had done so much of it on a volunteer basis). She began as the Director of Annual Giving at Mount Mercy, and she ended as Assistant Vice President for Development & Alumni Relations.
But Danielle was always interested in owning her own business. So, when an opportunity arose to buy into a franchise called MODE, Danielle went for it. She opened her current location on August 29, 2015. The franchise dissolved in 2017, and she purchased the marks—and is now ready to do a little more. They are in their eighth year of business at their original location in Marion.
They were offered the opportunity to do a pop-up location in NewBo during 2020 and took it. When the owner of that business discontinued her business, Danielle took over the entire space in May 2022 and has been there ever since.
