City of Solon issued the following announcement on October 13.
On November 2nd City of Solon residents will see a Public Measure on the ballot related to Local Option Sales Tax (LOST). In 2014, city residents voted to approve a one cent sales tax with those revenues used toward water, sewer, storm water and street projects, and youth and senior citizen activities.
The Solon City Council has placed this public measure on the ballot asking city residents to consider expanding the type of projects that LOST funds can be used for including the new fire station and other emergency and recreation facilities.
This is not a new tax, rather an amendment to the allowed uses and projects that LOST funds can be used for.
The new fire station project is an important project for the Solon community and the primary reason the City Council has asked this ballot question to be on the November 2nd ballot.
For more information about the LOST changes, see HERE. Please contact City Administrator Cami Rasmussen at 319-624-3755 or cami.rasmussen@solon-iowa.com if you have any question about the upcoming LOST ballot question. Thank you
