Iowa women’s golf prepares for Oklahoma Intercollegiate after home win

The University of Iowa women’s golf team is set to compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Presented by PDI, scheduled for October 6-7 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas. The event will feature a 54-hole format, beginning with 36 holes on Monday and concluding with 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will use a shotgun start, beginning at 9 a.m. CT on Monday and 8:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.

Fans interested in tracking the team’s performance can access live scoring through Scoreboard, powered by Clippd.

Representing Iowa in the tournament are junior Maura Peters, senior Shannyn Vogler, senior Riley Lewis, freshman Sunny Wang, and junior Ximena Benites. This group has played together in all three of the team’s previous tournaments this season.

The competition includes 14 teams: Abilene Christian University, Baylor University, Eastern Michigan University, University of Iowa, Kansas State University, University of North Texas, Oklahoma State University, Oral Roberts University, Sam Houston State University, University of Florida, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, University of Oklahoma, University of Tulsa and Wichita State University.

Prairie Dunes Country Club is recognized as one of the leading golf courses in the United States due to its design and history as host to several USGA and NCAA championships.

Recently, the Hawkeyes secured first place at the Diane Thomason Invitational held at Finkbine Golf Course with a total score of 889 over three rounds (296-303-290). The victory marked their second consecutive title at this event.

Junior Maura Peters led Iowa during that tournament with an even-par final round of 72 and finished tied for fifth overall. "It marks her second straight top-10 finish and the third of her career," according to information from the team. Senior Shannyn Vogler posted her best score this season with a total of 221 (76-72-72), tying for eighth place. "The performance marked the second top-10 finish of her career." Riley Lewis and Sunny Wang also placed within the top 20 during the invitational.

The Hawkeyes will next compete October 20-22 at The Ally in West Point, Mississippi.
