The University of Iowa has announced the 2025-26 schedule for its women’s rowing team. Head coach Jeff Garbutt released details of the upcoming season, which will see the Hawkeyes open both at home and on the road in early November.
The season begins with the Iowa Chase on November 1, held on the Iowa River. The following day, the team will travel to Lake Carnegie to compete in the Princeton Chase. Over the course of fall and spring, Iowa is set to participate in nine competitions.
The roster for this season includes six seniors, 11 juniors, and 25 sophomores. The team has also expanded its international presence by adding four new athletes from abroad, bringing the total number of international competitors to 15.
Reflecting on last year’s performance, head coach Jeff Garbutt stated: “The Hawkeyes look to continue to build off last season, tailing nine outright victories. Finishing 10th at the Big Ten Championship, with three boats finishing above their seed, the Hawkeyes are excited to get back to work at Beckwith Boathouse.” He added that three athletes received All-Big Ten honors: Orla Cuffe (First Team), Natalie Maher (Sportsmanship Award), and Mia Lawrence (All-Freshman).
Key dates in this year’s schedule include meets at University of Central Florida (February 27-28), Tennessee and Indiana Exhibition (March 21), Sunshine State Invite (March 28-29), Rocky Top Invite (April 3-4), Big Ten Invitational (April 18-19), a meet at Minnesota (May 2), and concluding with the Big Ten Championship on May 16-17.
