There have been “swatting” calls, or false calls to emergency services intended to harass or disrupt, involving false reports of school shootings in eastern Iowa this morning. Police departments have confirmed that calls reporting school shootings in Davenport, Clinton and Iowa City are false. There have been calls to other schools across the state. Preliminary investigation indicates these calls are linked and most likely made by the same person or group, with the calls all appearing to come from the same out-of-state phone number.
Area law enforcement agencies, including the North Liberty Police Department, have informed school administrators about these calls and will provide extra patrol at all of our schools.
