Coralville to Host RAGBRAI’s 50th Trip in 2023
For the first time since 2015, and the sixth time in its history, the City of Coralville will be an overnight stop for RAGBRAI. RAGBRAI is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023 and is loosely replicating the original route from 1973. Coralville is also celebrating a special anniversary in 2023 with its sesquicentennial of 150 years.
“RAGBRAI is a special event that the City of Coralville holds near and dear to our heart,” said Coralville Mayor Meghann Foster. “The synergy of this being the 50th anniversary of RAGBRAI and the 150th anniversary of Coralville is a perfect fit. We’ll be ready to welcome riders to the ‘Hub of Hospitality’ in Coralville.”
Committees are currently being formed to coordinate housing, camping, entertainment, public safety, and communications. Foster added, “It takes a full community effort to host RAGBRAI. Coralville has shown time and again that we are up to the task.”
Coralville will welcome riders coming in from Tama/Toledo on Friday, July 28, and will usher them to Davenport to finish their journey. Exact details of the route will be announced at a later date. S.T. Morrison Park will serve as the hub for camping and entertainment.
