2023 Black History calendars and planners available

The City's Office of Equity and Human Rights is offering complimentary “The Power of a Dream” 2023 Black History calendars and planners to the community.

Calendars will be available during regular business hours at the following locations:

  • Front Lobby Information Desk, first floor, City Hall, 410 E. Washington St.
  • Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St.
  • Senior Center Reception Desk, 28 S. Linn St.
  • The Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile.
Calendars and planners can be sent via standard mail to those who so request. To receive by mail, email humanrights@iowa-city.org.

The calendars feature a beautiful design highlighting a notable person or event that helped shape Black history for each month. The planner offers inspirational thoughts from noted African Americans, such as Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, writer Zora Neale Hurston, statesman and United States Army Gen. Colin Powell.
