Upcoming Design Workshop open houses, part of North Liberty’s year-long effort to gather public input and build a vision for the city in 2040 called Connected to Tomorrow, will offer public opportunities to work with the plan’s design team to develop concepts to improve transportation, commercial areas, downtown, entryways, parks and more.
The two open house events, both held in the Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St., are planned for April 21, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the library and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Recreation Department’s Room 1 upstairs. The workshops are in an open house format; and input can be offered in as few as 15 minutes.
Attendees can expect to learn about the plan and work alongside the plan design team to think about future land use, identify growth and enhancements to mobility, plan for future parks and trails and to give input on many other planning elements including housing, community services and business growth.
This input will be incorporated into North Liberty’s updated comprehensive plan, a document that helps the community guide economic development and growth. Since then, North Liberty has seen progress and development, including new neighborhoods and parks, improved transportation infrastructure and the start of a new health care campus. Through Connected to Tomorrow, North Liberty will build a new comprehensive plan to help make ambitious ideas driven by the community input a reality.
