Hawkeyes Fall to No. 1 Oklahoma

Number1

The University of Iowa softball team was defeated, 20-0, in five innings Sunday by the No. 1 nationally ranked Oklahoma Sooners at OGE Energy Field at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.

Senior Breanna Vasquez got the start for the Hawkeyes in the circle and took the loss, moving her record to 5-6 on the season.

The Iowa offense was unable to muster a hit against Oklahoma pitcher Jordy Bahl.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Oklahoma scored four runs in both the first and second innings. A seven-run third inning broke things open even further, and the Sooners capped the game off with a five-run fourth.

“A great opportunity for us to compete in an incredible environment this weekend. Even the Oklahoma fans were cheering for us the first four games. We were able to see what it takes to compete at a high level and in this stadium and will continue to work towards getting there.”
