City of Iowa City issued the following announcement on Nov. 30.
The City of Iowa City is accepting applications for a grant program designed to advance social justice and racial equity in the community beginning on Dec. 1, 2021.
This grant opportunity is available to Iowa City-based organizations, both non and for profit, with the purpose of encouraging, empowering, and engaging social justice and racial equity initiatives through programs, activities, or services that help eliminate inequities in the Iowa City community.
Programs that address one or more of the six priority service areas will receive preference: education, building community, housing, criminal justice, health, and employment.
The online application is available through Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at https://www.iowa-city.org/Forms/SJRE_Grant.
The Iowa City Human Rights Commission will review all applications and make funding recommendations to the City Council no later than Thursday, March 31, 2022. The City Council has approved $75,000 for fiscal year 2021, which will be split among the recipients. Funding will be awarded by Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
