Cultural awareness has leapt to the forefront of society spurred by protests and marches over the summer.
The impact of ensuring that awareness extends into private business cannot be understated as demographics continue to change. Training to stay ahead of the curve is being offered by the City of Iowa City in ZOOM training from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.
An Iowa City press release reported training objectives including understanding the dangers of stereotypes and how biases impact how we interact with people. A demonstration of the understanding on the Intercultural Awareness Stretch Model will be provided. Culture will be discussed in depth and participants will engage in a 21-day challenge.
The press release reported the workshop will provide a range of PowerPoint slides, short vides and a personal challenge activity for participants to have an ongoing education and awareness that can be built upon. The ZOOM workshop offers a safe forum to engage in.
Registration is available online or call in using the number 312-626-6799. The call's ID is 944 6721 2614. Registration is capped at 150 participants, the press release reported.
