Iowa City Manager Geoff Fruin recently announced on July 30 that three finalists are being considered for the chief of police position.

The finalists seeking the position are Jason Lando of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dustin Liston of El Paso, Texas, and Jeremy Logan of Oelwein.

Former Police Chief Jody Matherly retired in February, after a 37-year tour of duty, serving the community. Matherly spent the last three years as Iowa City Police Chief.

Public and meet-and-greet functions will be scheduled and announced at a later date. The city will execute COVID-19 protocols at all events and will broadcast content via live stream for those who can't personally attend.

The public is highly encouraged to send feedback regarding the finalists. Feedback can be submitted by emailing policechiefsearch@iowa-city.org, or by submitting feedback to the Human Resources Administrator by sending mail to City Hall at 410 E. Washington Street in Iowa City, 52240
