The City of Iowa City is currently inviting local businesses that are advancing ecologically sustainable practices and initiatives to participate in the new Climate Action at Work awards program, according to a news release by the city.
The city implemented the program as part of its Climate Action initiatives to raise awareness about climate change and recognize businesses that are helping the city reach carbon emissions reduction goals.
Participants can apply in one or more of the following categories: Building Efficiency, Transportation, Waste, Adaptation and Sustainable Lifestyle. A winner from each category will receive a $500 award that can be used to help offset the costs of their sustainability efforts.
This program is open to all local businesses. Businesses with BIPOC, female or LGBTQ ownership are strongly encouraged to apply.
Winners will be announced and all participants will be recognized at the September 2020 Climate Action Festival.
The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, July 31.
