Iowa health care professionals and community members now have access to a new helpline where they can obtain information about either the flu or the coronavirus.
According to a KCRG article, the helpline is run by University of Iowa Health Care and will be staffed 24 hours a day. Individuals can get answers to questions related to how to prevent illness, how to keep communities safe and the latest CDC guidelines.
People who have symptoms of the flu or the coronavirus should contact their health provider as the helpline isn’t for those with urgent care needs.
The hotline for general coronavirus information is 319-384-8819, and the hotline for coronavirus and flu symptoms are 319-384-9010.
There have been 90 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. Worldwide there have been more than 294,000 confirmed cases with more than 15,000 of those in the United States.
