In their previous competition, Iowa maintained its undefeated home record by defeating Penn State with a score of 197.075-196.525. This result tied for the third highest team score in program history. The Hawkeyes won event titles on floor (49.475), bars (49.450), and vault (49.075). A new program high was set on bars with a score of 49.450, while the floor performance matched the sixth best in school history.
Senior JerQuavia Henderson achieved a season-best score and junior Alyse Karenbauer recorded a career-high as they shared the floor title with scores of 9.925 each. Freshman Daisy Bowles won the bars title with a career-high 9.950, tying for second in Iowa’s individual records and earning her Co-Freshman of the Week honors. Freshman Sophie Schriever earned her first vault event title with a personal best of 9.875, while sophomore Aurélie Tran claimed the all-around title with a career-high score of 39.550.
Entering this week, Iowa holds an NQS score of 196.429 and ranks No. 11 nationally on bars, No. 18 on vault, No. 20 on beam, and No. 23 on floor exercise.
Aurélie Tran is ranked ninth nationally in all-around competition and thirteenth on bars; she also holds third place rankings within the Big Ten for both categories. Sophie Schriever stands twelfth nationally and fifth in the Big Ten for all-around performance.
UCLA comes into the meet with a record of ten wins and two losses overall—undefeated within Big Ten contests—and holds an NQS score of 197.450 that places them fifth nationally.
Ohio State has three wins and four losses overall this season; they are ranked nineteenth nationally based on their NQS score of 196.405.
Maryland enters with seven wins and three losses overall, ranking twenty-fifth nationally with an NQS score of 196.965.

The roster includes three Canadian athletes: sophomore Aurélie Tran—who leads the team with eleven event titles—Cassie Lee, and Sydney Turner; all competed at the Olympics in Paris during summer 2024.
Freshman Sophie Schriever is notable as the only first-year student competing all-around for Iowa this season; she has secured five event titles so far.
Head coach Jen Llewellyn is now in her second year leading the GymHawks program after guiding assistant coaches Craig Ballard, Brenna Brooks, and Kyle Grable to regional coaching honors last season.
Iowa’s freshman class features Maggie Ball from Oklahoma, Daisy Bowles from Nevada, Stella DePaola from Arizona, and Sophie Schriever from Utah.
The Hawkeyes’ next home meet is scheduled for March 6 against Central Michigan, SEMO, and Northern Illinois at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
