University of Iowa center Ava Heiden has been named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Late-Season Team, according to an announcement from the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Tuesday.

The Naismith Trophy is awarded each year to the top women’s basketball player who demonstrates significant success on the court. The partnership between Jersey Mike’s and the Naismith Awards highlights efforts to recognize and reward outstanding collegiate athletes and coaches for their achievements during the season.

Heiden currently averages 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, with a shooting percentage of 64 percent from the field. This field goal percentage places her fifth in the nation and second within her conference.

In a recent victory over Nebraska, Heiden recorded her sixth career double-double, matching her career-high with 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting and collecting 11 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in 13 consecutive games, including against all Big Ten opponents faced this season. Additionally, Heiden leads Iowa with eight games of at least 20 points this season.

Earlier this month, Heiden was also included on the Lisa Leslie Top 10 List.

The Hawkeyes, who are nationally ranked, will play Purdue on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. Central Time in West Lafayette. The game will be broadcast on B1G+ and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
